Systems is seeking a Software Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead
for our M109 Family of Vehicles. This position can be located in
Sterling Heights, MI or Minneapolis, MN and works a 9/80 hybrid
schedule with every other Friday off.The M109 Family of Vehicles
Software IPT Lead reports to the Combat Mission Systems (CMS)
Electrical Software and Controls (ESC) Functional Engineering
Directorate and is matrixed to the Program Engineering Director for
M109 Family of Vehicles. The software lead supports multiple
Program Engineering Managers on efforts across this family of
artillery vehicles.This position is responsible for the overall
software efforts across this product portfolio, involving software
development from within BAE Systems Platforms and Services Sector
and externally through Electronics Systems and Intelligence &
Security sectors and other subcontracts.Responsibilities
- Oversee software engineering efforts, including requirements
analysis, design, implementation, integration, test, verification,
final delivery, and maintenance.
- Coordinate support from Software Quality Assurance and Software
Configuration Management organizations.
- Coordinate with Safety Engineering to ensure software
requirements development and safety efforts are completed and
recorded accurately, driving software level of rigor for
safety-related software.
- Achieve on-time delivery of contract deliverables with
acceptable quality and 90%+ first pass customer acceptance.
- Ensure project team executes with appropriate process
discipline and rigor according to tailored Business Management
System (BMS) Procedures.
- Oversee Control Account(s) or Work Package(s), monitor
progress, and take corrective actions to meet cost, quality,
performance, and schedule constraints.
- Develop staffing forecasts, estimates, and Basis of Estimates
(BoEs) for software to support programs and proposals.
- Plan software project schedules and builds supporting vehicle
development schedules.
- Plan formal software milestone reviews with USG customer
representatives, including SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR.
- Evaluate software requirements for consistency with
higher-level performance and customer requirements.
- Evaluate designs to ensure they meet customer needs and
requirements, involving Software Functional Management in
architecture reviews.
- Guide project team in collaborative problem solving, involving
relevant stakeholders.
- Resolve conflicts between subsystems or disciplines to benefit
system performance, quality, reliability, and cost.
- Engage stakeholders in software project activities, maintaining
stakeholder matrix and involvement.
- Elevate issues affecting product behavior to appropriate IPTs
for resolution, including stakeholders from systems, safety, and
other disciplines.
- Communicate proactively with leaders and notify management of
risks, issues, and opportunities.
- Provide clear work direction to project personnel.
- Apply knowledge of engineering disciplines and
product/technology area to guide project outcomes.
- Ensure coordination of Cybersecurity efforts within the
Software domain.
- Prepare and present project metrics and status at reviews and
meetings.
- Manage resources to meet project objectives, coordinating with
functional and project managers.
- Provide performance and development feedback for project
personnel.
- Maintain and enhance BAE Systems' technical reputation with
customers and industry.Required Education, Experience, &
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline plus 8
years relevant experience; or a master's degree and 6 years; or a
Ph.D. and 4 years.
- Practical knowledge of software engineering processes.
- Familiarity with CANbus and Ethernet communications.
- Contemporary design/development experience.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience managing software implementation, integration, or
testing.
- Knowledge of Cybersecurity, Risk Management Framework, and
Authority to Operate (ATO).Preferred Education, Experience, &
Skills
- Knowledge of software management and engineering development
processes, including process tailoring and improvement.
- Knowledge of EVMS and Control Account Manager duties.
- Knowledge of CMMI and BAE Systems Life Cycle Management.
- Cybersecurity certification.
- PMP Certification.
- Experience with M109 Artillery Vehicles.
- Experience managing software subcontracts and interdivisional
work orders.
- Current Secret Clearance.Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range:
$130,355 - $221,603Note: Salaries depend on various factors
including skills, education, experience, and market
